Why the name SUP?
We glad you asked! We believe that SUP is a universal name for soup in different countries around the world. It also derives around our mantra of “soup up” which we believe that our soups are “made more elaborate or impressive”. SUP showcases the friendliness of the brand, “what’s up” together with a quick meal that could be enjoyed like supper. We have chosen the colour green as our base colour to associate with friendliness, sustainability, and environmental consciousness. This strong alignment promotes our brand to the quality of our product from our crops, ingredients, how we source, handle, manufacture and package to our consumers.
MEET THERESA
Hi y’all - I’m Theresa!
(Writing this has always been a little awkward, so please excuse me! 😅)
My parents arrived in Australia as refugees after the Vietnam War, settling first in Toowoomba, QLD. I was born and raised in Western Sydney, watching my parents work incredibly hard to build a life in a completely new country. We had multiple family-run food businesses including a. a takeaway shop and a bakery - which gave me my first lessons in resilience, grit, and what it really takes to run a business.
I’ve always loved traveling and discovering different cuisines and cultures, but Asian food has always been home for me - especially Mama’s nourishing homemade soups.
While living overseas, I noticed a huge gap in the market for convenient, nutritious instant soups that went beyond miso. Like… why does miso get to have all the fun? Why aren’t there other Asian soups on shelves — soups filled with real ingredients and real flavor — ready instantly? Seriously… why not?
When I returned to Vietnam, my aunt had the exact same thought. During COVID-19, tonnes of vegetables from our greenhouses were being thrown away due to disrupted demand and supply chains. That sparked a conversation:
What if we freeze-dried them to reduce waste and lock in nutrients?
And what if we used this technology to showcase the incredible variety of Asian soups?
Let’s be honest - our soups aren’t a “hug in a mug.” They’re a PUNCH in the face - hitting you with flavor in the best way. 😎
That’s how SUP was born.
We use Japanese freeze-drying technology to create instant soup cubes made with real ingredients. Our vegetables are harvested at the right time from our family greenhouse, and we work closely with our sister manufacturing company and R&D team (yes, there is a lot of taste-testing involved 🤭) to ensure every cube is authentic, nourishing, and delicious — just like Mama’s cooking, but without the hours in the kitchen.
I’ve been in the corporate world for almost 20 years (and still am… 🤪), and SUP Foods is my first big leap into the food space. My dad, watching from heaven, would probably be shaking his head at the chaos of it all - but I hope he’s proud.

Our vegetables are hand picked at the right time to lock in that freshness, we don't like nasties, so all our vegetables are GMO free! They are then carefully harvested using strong practices, making sure it's sustainable, safe and clean, after all, we are also proud to be certified VietGAP!
